Bessie is a 3-to 5-year-old basset girl BRBR plucked from the Horn Lake, Miss., animal shelter. She was picked up running the streets in a subdivision. No one came to take her home, so she was put on the list for the needle of death.

A BRBR volunteer showed up in the nick of time and saved her life. Bessie is sweet, skinny and knows how to use a doggie door.

She also has heartworms.

Bessie's treatment will cost $600 and require her to spend weeks in a cage, being still. But she can be saved, unlike so many others. Please help us pay for the medical care she needs to get her second chance at life.
