Hello!  This is my 10th Alpha 1 Bike Trek, each year I meet more and more people afflicted with this disease, who in spite of this deadly genetic condition, continue to push forward and inspire the rest of us, who sometimes take our health for granted.   Riding 160 miles through some of the most scenic and magestic areas of Cape Cod is easy, meeting and hearing about the thousands of people whose life is effected by Alpha 1 each year, is the tough part.  I first learned about Alpha 1 when my  brother-in-law David, fell ill in his early 30's and couldn't figure why he struggled to breathe, or why he had reocurring bouts of pneumonia, unitl he was finally diagnosed with Alpha 1 lung disease.  Shortly after, my sister- in- law, was also diagnosed.  I will continue to pedal on both their behalfs, and many many of the other Alpha's I've met over the years, some that are still with us, and others whose memories we honor each year.  This bike trek and all the heroic stories made each year, with each mile, make life worth living.
