Hello family and friends! Thanks for visiting my page! This year's Buddy Walk was a beautiful day! So many Drew's Crew member's came out to support DSACO! We're still raising funds for our team so please donate today!
So much has changed for Miss Drew this year. Having completed her first year of Truman Primary School as a kindergartener, she thinks she’s big time now that she’s going to be a “grader”. All day kindergarten provided her an opportunity to make great new friends, learn to read, and develop a love for school! Of course, it came with it’s challenges as she adjusted to structure and rules, but overall, it was a successful year. As many of you know, you won’t find her walking around anywhere without a backpack that weighs more than she does! As Drew has so much love and joy to give, we pray she will brighten the life of her new teacher and continue her love for learning. As much as she loves school, she is equally overjoyed with cheerleading! She is a member of the Oklahoma Twisters Shining Stars Cheer Team and watching her perform is amazing! Trips to Dallas for competition were highlights of the year for her! We still strive everyday to provide her with opportunities to live happier, laugh harder, and spread her unconditional love! I can’t wait to see what this year brings!
The Down Syndrome Association of Oklahoma continues to be a great support system for our family. This past spring, Kye and I attended the “Reaching Across the Plains” Regional Conference in OKC in March. Local and national speakers came together with the latest information on Down syndrome advocacy, research, and legislation. Our greatest benefit from DSACO this year has been the Sibshops program that was brought to Norman. This program allows siblings of children with special needs to gather monthly and obtain peer support and education within a recreational setting. Siblings can discuss common joys and concerns with other children living in their situations. One of my greatest joys is watching the bond grow between the girls. When they play together, they constantly laugh so hard we come running to see what’s so funny! We pray their bond continues to grow and we’re thankful the Sibshops program recognizes and supports their unique relationship.
With the Buddy Walk being DSACO’s largest fundraiser, our family team, “Drew’s Crew,” will strive to be 1st place once again! The more money we raise, the more families can benefit from all the wonderful programs and activities DSACO has to offer. After raising $8, 210 last year, we have set our goal at $10,000 for 2011. Any contribution is tax deductible and shows your support for Drew and DSACO. Checks can be mailed to 1024 Bentbrook Place, Norman, Ok, 73072 or online, safe, secure donations can be made through this site. Please feel free to forward this website to any friends, neighbors, family members you have that might be interested in learning more about Down syndrome and supporting our family team. We would love to have you join with us in walking on Saturday, September 24. The event is FREE for all participants and is guaranteed to be a life-changing day for you and your family. Thanks for your continual support and we look forward to celebrating the lives of all people with Down syndrome with you at Buddy Walk 2011!
