Team Liam
My son Liam is three years old and the most important person in my life. When he was about a year old, I started seeing an alarming difference between him and other children his age. He was losing the limited vocabulary he had developed during the first year of his life, his coordination and balance were not progressing and he seemed to become disconnected from my husband and me and at times unresponsive to our presence. I searched high and low for answers but every answer seemed to point to the unthinkable. When Liam was two, he was diagnosed with autism.
It was devastating to my husband and me who, like most parents, had a completely different vision for the future of our family. After an anger and mourning period we woke up to this new reality called autism.
Not willing to give up, I researched everything I could about Liam's condition and realized that with professional tutoring and guidance, he could be helped. With very little in the way of autism schools, I prayed that God would help us find the answer. In January of 2012 God answered my prayers and Liam was enrolled at the Alpine Autism Center.
As a private school, Alpine doesn’t get the government handouts that are available to public schools; and relies on the limited tuition and generous donations of private citizens to pay the bills.
I am setting the goal of $2,000 for Liam’s fundraising page. Combined with the efforts of other Alpine parents and staff, we have an overall goal of $45,000. We know times are tough so anything you can give is extremely appreciated. Your support really does make a difference for these kids!!! GO TEAM LIAM!!!!
