I am officially registered for Ironman Louisville 2011 on August 28, 2011.

I cannot think of a better way to bring even more meaning to it all than by raising money for one of my favorite charities. Many of you supported me when I fundraised for the Hope for the Warrriors for the 2009 and 2010 Marine Corps Marathon, and I am thankful for your support of me and that amazing organization. I hope that you can support me again as I fundraise for High Cloud. 
 

High Cloud Foundation is a locally grown non-profit, with worldwide operations. I learned about High Cloud from Matt & Adriana Anderson, two friends and fellow members of the DC Triathlon Club, who founded this amazing organization. It is my hope to travel with the High Cloud Foundation on one of their humanitarian missions in the coming year, but for now I'm starting with some fundraising to support their many programs in developing countries around the world that bring education, health, sports, and development.

An Ironman 140.6 is an endurance triathlon which begins with a swim for 2.4 miles in the Ohio river in downtown Louisville.  Then a 112 mile bike ride followed by a marathon distance run of 26.2 miles in 17 hours or less!
 

One of my favorite authors, Rainer Maria Rilke died long before an Ironman existed, however he was onto something when it comes to these types of events: “Happiness is an inexpressibly misleading and temporary thing, decides nothing; the true stations of joy are on the road which lies through simple endurance.”
