Needed: Women's Transition Home in Rwanda
Recently my daughter, Abbie, and I were blessed to visit the beautiful country of Rwanda where we fell in love with some of God's most precious people. While I was there, I was able to visit some of the widows and orphans, some of which are totally homeless. It was there that I found the heart of God and I know it is totally broken for the widows and the orphans.
It is my prayer that you will join me and many others from our Dig Deep Team 2008, in helping to establish a safe transitional home for these widows and orphans. It will be a short-term home to get these women get off the streets and live in a peaceful environment in which to raise their children. They will be trained in skills that would be used to ultimately support themselves as well as discipled in the Word of God in order that their children and generations to follow will also walk in the ways of the Lord. This will all be done under the close supervision and prayer covering of our missionary friends, Richard & Robin Smyth of Rwanda, who have imparted their vision and their heart for these people to us.
James 1:27 says this: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep onself from being polluted by the world."
You might be wondering why I chose the number "$8,888" as my goal.....first of all, I believe that this will help to cover the rental expense and other expenses (such as food, clothing, schooling etc.) for one year for several families, if not more. Also, it is the number for "new beginnings" and I am believing that with your financial assistance and prayers, these families will come to a place of "new beginnings"....all for the glory and the Kingdom of God!
While I realize that everyone has been affected in some way by financial difficulties recently, I do know that the Lord is the biggest giver I know.....and the more we bless others, the more He blesses us in return. So, give with a generous heart and watch what He will do! No amount is too small, no amount is too big!
With His Heart, Linda Allard & family
