As you may know our Emily was diagnosed with Juvenile Dermatomyositis when she was 12 and in the sixth grade. It has been quite a journey over these last 6 years with so many opportunities to learn, weep and laugh. We have learned so much from Emily in the strong and dignified way that she has responded to any and all challenges thrown at her.
We were so proud of Emily this year when for her Girl Scout Gold Award Project she presented to the entire faculty and staff at her school a presentation entitled "Emily's Voice" which gave voice to the many students who go through their school days with some form of a health challenge. It was particularly moving when a teacher and staff member each stood to recount the story of their own child with tears running down their faces. Her next step is to take "Emily's Voice" school system wide and possibly to the state.
JM is an extremely rare disease with too little attention given to it by the larger mainstream medical research organizations. We are very fortunate to have Cure JM which has had considerable success in raising money and deploying it in an incredibly impactful way. Please join us in supporting this organization during this annual event when Linda and Peter will both participate in a Half Marathon in Baltimore...Running for Cure JM!
Thank you so very much for the big and small things each of you does to help our Emily and the many other children like her in this world!!
Please consider DONATING today! No amount is too small, every dollar we raise gets us one step closer to our goal!
