Linda's Appeal for Camfed
As the resident geek-chick of Otterstow, I know that the most important thing a girl can have is her education. I don't want to think about where I'd be without mine.
Probably everyone reading this has a good education and, in the place that you live, I'd bet it's taken as read that, from the day a girl is born, she'll spend, more or less, a dozen or so years in school.
Sadly, that's the exception! Worldwide, girls get the short end of the stick on education. Many never get to go to school at all! How sad is that!
Education empowers girls to lift them out of poverty, makes them self-sufficient and able to make good, informed choices about their lives. It even helps them live longer and protects them from disease.
As a charity, educating girls practically pays for itself. Educated girls (like me) are much less likely to rely on charity or welfare when they mature.
As I mentioned, I don't know where I'd be without my education. Take a moment to think about where you would you be without yours.
Then pony up a pony (or just a fiver would be fine) for Camfed. More information about them is on the link below.
Cheers,
Linda
