Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
My tiny friend Logan was born prematurely at 23 and a half weeks gestation. Logan weighed only one pound and four ounces. His parents were visiting Savannah from North Carolina. He had most of the typical health problems of such prematurely born infantsincluding lung diease, infection, and eye problems. for a good part of his hospitalization he was too unstable to even consider moving him to North Carolina.
Ronald McDonald House was home to his Mom and Dad for 15 weeks. Staying there, so close to the hospital, enabled them to visit every day for hours to encourage him to fight for his life. As his condition improved they were able to "kangaroo" with him, and to hold him and read to him several times a day. Can you imagine new parents having to leave their extremely premature baby in Savannah while they returned home to NC? Of course you can't! And with the House that Love Built they only had to leave their baby's bedside to eat and sleep. By the time Logan was discharged on oxygen and an apnea monitor, he knew who his parents were, and he responded to their touch and voices.
It costs $65 to cover the cost of one night at the Ronald McDonald House. Parents are asked to pay what they can. Some folks can pay nothing, but the House keeps on going, thanks to supporters like you.
