Linda Steenburgh-Palmer's Fundraising Page
Dear Friends and Family,
Yes, we did it. Our times weren't the best but it's about the journey!
It was a perfect running day and Susan took great care of her team! The crowd was like none other!! Unfortunately, Kathy developed knee pain at 9 miles and with tears in her eyes so we stopped at the medical tent for help and continued on. The roar of the crowd at the "tunnel of love" was deafening. At mile 13, Kathy's fiance, Ryan, his Dad, brother and sister-in-law cheered us on. We pulled into the medical tent at mile 14 and got ice for her knee and walked a bit to give it time to work. Then continued on but the tightness in our muscles was taking hold.
To the blind man, the amputee and the man pushing the wheelchair backward - I pray you reached your dream too and I thank you for the strength and appreciation you gave me that day. I applaud you and your success!
At mile 16, we were cheered on by the Foley family with a HUGE sign. At mile 20, sister/ daughter Nicole met us for the last climb and was our strength. Sister/daughter Megan was there and waiting at mile 21 with the extra encouragement we needed as we jogged the last little bit to the finish line.
Few Moms are as fortunate as me to have healthy, loving girls by their side !Jogging to the finish of the Boston Marathon, we were met by the rest of the family - Mike, Ryan and the gang.
THANK YOU TO MY DONORS! I ran with all your names on my Bay State Games shirt and your best wishes in my heart.
Special thanks to Susan Hurley for giving me this incredible opportunity!
Eternally grateful, Linda
