Milo's Minions

Oh my, Milo's Mom is at it again!!  :)

Guess what?  We are doing great!  Milo has worked so hard since I last bugged you for donations and the results are nothing short of miraculous.  But he will have to continue to work, possibly for the rest of his life, to assimilate and thrive in society.

So I'm not going anywhere... I will continue to fundraise, advocate, and fight for families affected by AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDERS!

I'll recap briefly for those just joining us...

Milo was diagnosed with autistic disorder in Feb 09.  He was nonverbal and had severe delays in sensory processing and communication, had debilitating repetative behaviors, and significant developmental delays across the board.

For three years, Milo has been working harder than most anyone I know.  He had 30+ hours of therapy a week at the beginning.  He has seen countless doctors and therapists.  He has tolerated nutritional intervention, supplementation, research trials for therapies, play groups, and one extremely determined and obsessive Mama.

Today, to say Milo is verbal is an understatement.  He is able to express his likes and dislikes (sometimes loudly!), his opinion and his feelings.  He is a pretty well behaved kid as 5 year olds go.  He has friends and loves school.  He does his chores and takes care of his dog.  He is a sweet and smart kid!

This battle is one we did not choose, but we will continue to fight for our son and for the others affected by Autism in Alabama.

It is EXTREMELY difficult for families do this alone... it takes support and direction.  Your donation helps the Autism Society of Alabama support families affected by Autism through advocacy, awareness, education, and resource provision.

Please consider a donation to The Autism Society of Alabama!

(please note, a donation on this page does not register you for the Autism Walk.  If you would like to walk with Milo's Minions on April 21 at Central High School in Tuscaloosa, please contact me at 205-799-9808 or by email at frogwater276@yahoo.com)
