Tick-Borne Disease Alliance

Create Footprints - Libertyville, Illinois Libertyville,  Illinois

Lisa Hilton's Fundraising Page

My friend Kimberly Heeres-Franke started this lyme walk to help those suffering with Lyme Disease.  She and her family are also suffering from chronic lyme.  We need to raise money for researching, education, and treatment of this disease.  Most people don't realize Lyme Disease becomes chronic.

The Lyme Walk is the first in the Chicago Area.  It will be on Sunday September 27, 2009, at 16400 W. Buckey Rd, Libertyville, Il.  It is a 2.5k walk.  Registration will be at 10am.  If you are interested in becoming a sponsor, volunteering, or creating your own walk team, please contact Kimberly at 847-833-5962 or lymeaide@comcast.net.

The diagnosis and treatment isn't easy for lyme disease. .  Tests are inaccurate and it is common for patients to be misdiagnosed for years before getting the correct diagnosis therefore leading to chronic Lyme Disease.  Also many doctors don't test for co-infections.  Ticks and many bugs spread more then just lyme.  There is Bartonella, Babesia, Erlichiosis, Mycoplasma and many more disease that come along with a tick or bug bite.  Each patient will respond to a different treatment, so there's no easy path to a quick cure yet.

My name is Lisa Hilton and I live in Genoa City, Wi.  I have suffered for 15 years before being accurately diagnosed.  Now I've been in treatment for three years.  I've lost my jobs, and pretty much have become homebound.  My goal is to educate as many people as I can to help prevent others from becoming chronic. Our support group wants to rasie awareness of Lyme Disease in Illinois and Wisconsin.

Here are some of the symptoms of Lyme Disease and it's co-infections.  Rash, bull's eye or hives, fatigue, insomnia, tremors, vision problems, fever, stiff neck, muscle aches and pains, weakness, short of breath, difficulty swallowing, burning  or stabbing sensations, poor concentration, difficulty walking, memory loss, depression, anxiety, hair loss, weight gain/loss, Bell's Palsy, heart palpitations, and many more.
