The 2010 Laura’s March will raise funds for two worthy local causes.
First, the March will raise funds for the Fletcher Allen Health Care (FAHC) Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program. They provide care and services to children and adult victims of sexual and physical violence. We are contributing funds needed for nurses to attend the annual meeting of the International Association of Forensic Nurses in Pittsburgh. There they will participate in opportunities not available in Vermont to augment their skills in dealing with victims.
Also, LKW Fund will support the Women's Rape Crisis Center (WRCC) and Frog Hollow in their collaborative art project with a two-fold objective: to provide sexual assault victims a means of healing by giving them a voice through the art itself; and to run workshops and exhibits of the finalized art pieces for middle and high school youths to build an appreciation of art, bring awareness to the pervasive problem of sexual violence, and teach the understanding and compassion that is necessary for positive social change.
As always, the LKW Fund will donate a portion of the proceeds to other organizations and programs in the Vermont community in line with our mission. We are proud of our tradition of giving back to the community and hope to continue with help from our supporters.
