Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Candy, Cookie, and I will be walking to raise money for the Humane Society's 22nd annual Bark in the Park at Al Lopez Park!!! This will be the 2nd year we walk and this time we have joined forces with Chico's Gang!!!!
Chico represents all that a "shelter dog" stands for. He was originally "dumped" at animal services as part of an unwanted litter. After he grew into an adult he was no longer wanted by his previous owners and through a twist of fate he was accepted into the adoption program although he was not supposed to be because he is of a breed that is difficult to adopt out ( Chow mix). Once surrendered it was found that there was something wrong with one of his legs. Turns out somebody had tied a thick hair tie around his leg, left it there, and the bone and skin had grown over it. The shelter did his surgery to remove the hair band. Through this time, he was at the shelter for about a month and had grown stressed and started showing signs of people aggression. He was no longer considered adoptable. Through my friends begging and crying he was given another chance and she took him into foster care to finish his recovery. Needless to say he stayed in her family and has more joy, energy, and love for life than is imaginable! Candy, Cookie, and I will be walking with him in his honor and in the memory of those that were not lucky like Chico. Last year Chico was at Bark in the Park trying to find a home, this year he will be attending as part of a family and group. I will be walking to raise money for those like Chico that need a second chance in life and through the donations given to the shelter they will find homes where they will be loved. Please join me in raising money for these animals that so desperately need our help!
