Helena Montana Walk a Mile in Her Shoes Fundraising Page

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!

Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.

Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!

You cannot understand someone else’s experiences until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes. We are organizing a march because we know that rape won’t stop until more men are courageous enough to stand up against sexual violence.
Although this is a very serious subject, Walk a Mile in Her Shoes, is a lighthearted co-gender movement. The parade will take place at the downtown post office and end at Anchor Park. Here we will have a several speakers, coming from God’s Love, the Friendship Center and other various organizations.
All of the money through registration fees and donations will go straight to the Friendship Center; thefriendshipcenter.org. All of our donations are in-kind donations. We are reaching out to you in hopes that you would like to be involved. We are trying to raise enough money to buy national “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” t-shirts. We would give these t-shirts out to the first 60 participants in the march. We would also like volunteers to participate in the parade, along with helping the day of the parade.
A fundraiser would be great publicity and also raise early awareness about the event. If this interests you, please contact me, and we can continue with more ideas. This is a national organization and these marches are held all over the world. Please look at the national organizations website; walkamileinhershoes.org.

Men "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes"
to Stop rape and end sexual violence
June 19 in Downtown Helena

On June 19, men from all walks of life will walk one mile in women’s highheeled
shoes through downtown to protest rape, sexual assault & gender violence. At the end we will have a gathering in Anchor Park with food, speakers, and fun activities Proceeds from the registration walkers in the event will go the The Friendship Center’s violence prevention efforts, and rape crisis services in Helena. Please feel free to look at their website: thefriendshipcenter.org.

WHO: Male community members and leaders will proclaim their solidarity with the rape prevention movement by marching in high heels, with women and children marching at their side. Educators, students, law enforcement officers, elected and appointed officials, and others are expected to participate.
WHEN: The march is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am, with registration starting at 10:00 am. Men, women, and children are invited to participate and walk-on registrants are welcome. Men are encouraged (but not required) to walk in women’s shoes and participants are being asked for a $15.00 registration fee. High heels in all sizes will be available to those who don’t have their own.

“One in three women has experienced gender violence in her lifetime. A woman is raped every 90 seconds in America,” Said Frank Baird, Founder of the March.

“That means someone you know, someone you care about has been the victim of sexual violence. This violence does not just affect women. Men are hurt and angered when women they care about are raped. Men are hurt and angered when they try to develop relationships with women in an atmosphere of fear and mistrust and blame. And the same violence that targets women also targets men because rape isn’t about sex, it’s about power, control and violence.”

Inspired by the old saying, “You can’t understand a person’s experience until you’ve walked a mile in their shoes,” men will literally walk one mile in women’s high-heeled shoes.
