Many thanks for your support.
First, a huge thank you to all of my friends, family & fellow humanitarians for visiting my page. Recently while researching different non-profits and other organizations that provide relief and aid to foreign countries, I stumbled upon the Boston based non-profit United Planet. United Planet is an organization that provides volunteers and humanitarians a place to safely and effectively volunteer time and service to various places in the world where the most help is needed.
My name is Liz, I am 26 years old. I am a Colombian born American. As a baby I was brought to an orphange in Bogota Colombia where I was fortunate enough to be adopted by an American couple that I am now lucky enough to call my parents :) They, being the amazing people that they are, instilled and reiterated the values of human service as well as an appreciation and compassion for others. My adoption has been the best thing that has ever happened to me, because it has created a stable and loving environment for me that being something that alot of people are fortunate enough to have had from birth. Throughout the years I have had amazing opportunities to be involved in and volunteer at many organizations where I've raised awareness for chronic illnesses and institutes and worked mentoring teens. I've also worked in animal rescue, and have worked at a local therapeutic riding stable with both animals and disabled children. It has become a lifelong ambition to help others.
This will be my first overseas effort and I am dreaming of many more . My first volunteer effort will be at a tabara which is a Romanian orphanage, it is a cause very close to my heart as I was adopted myself. I then hope to move on to Nepal where I would be working with women and children who have been abused at a crisis center in Kathmandu. I then hope to have the opportunity to go to Peru and work on a wild animal care quest... this is the start of what I hope to be a lifelong passion to promote awareness, enlighten my fellow peers, explore the world , and make a difference in things I come across in my life.
Again, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my story and support my dream to make a difference in the lives of others. Any and all contributions on my behalf to United Planet, through this page, are greatly appreciated.
With Love, Hope, and Gratefulness,
Liz
