Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I have been participating in the Walk for Lupus sponsored by the Lupus Alliance of America, Michigan/Indiana Chapter for 12 years. This walk is very dear to my heart because I was diagnosed with lupus in November 1997. This is a very challenging disease that can take a toll on your mind and body.
WHAT IS LUPUS?
Lupus is unpredictable and potentially fatal autoimmune disease in which your immune system is out of balance causing inflammation and tissue damage to any organ in the body ( heart, kidneys, lungs, blood vessels, brain, joints, skin). In essence, the body turns on itself by attacking healthy tissues and organs.
MY STORY:
After being diagnosed with lupus in November of 1997, I had a major flare-up in August of 1998. Lupus had infected by central nervous system and I had a grand mal seizure. I was in the hospital 6 weeks and off work for almost 4 months. The seizure had me in a coma for about a week. I had to learn to walk all over again. Over the years I have had mini flare-ups where I had to take time off work because the fatigue or aches were so extreme, I could not get out of bed. I am retired now and have more time to concentrate on my health.
I am so tired of being tired. "I am not complaining, just explaining".
I am doing pretty good. I still have issues with extreme fatigue, stiff and achy joints.
I am asking you to support me in my efforts in raising funds to assist the Lupus Alliance of America to continue their mission to promote public awareness and education about lupus. Money raised will also support research into the cause, treatment and finding a cure for lupus.
Donating on my fundraising page is simple, fast and secure. It is the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. If you wish to donate via another method (checks, or money order, etc), please contact me via e-mail at lomitch@att.net. Your donations are tax deductable.
Many thanks for your support and don't forget to forward this to anyone you think might want to donate too.
