Help Save Me....Please?
This is a really sad story.
After the 4th of July, this dog wound up on top of an office building, probably terrified from the fireworks. Some really lovely people tried over and over to catch her. We were arranging a dog trap to get her, but just the other night, she was found two stories down...she could not move...
Here is an update:
Rande,
Here are some photos. They are the best I could get. She was very nervous for me to even get this close. It is absolutely heartbreaking. As you know she has been living on the second story of a parking garage and the people there at the paper have been feeding her. Last night she got frightened and she ran off the edge of the second story. They called me at 2:30 AM in a panic not knowing how to get her into the car. She was screaming and flailing and they were worried she may have a broken back or neck. The managed to get her into a box and into the car and I met them at the emergency hospital.
She was still screaming as soon as anyone would touch her. I don't know if it is more form the pain or from her absolute terror. I don't know how long this poor girl has been on the streets but she is so terribly afraid of people.
Fortunately the xrays show no broken bones...very lucky. However, her lungs are filled with blood from the impact of the fall. And her chest cavity is filled with air under her skin. This may mean she has a tear in her trachea. She came in bleeding from her mouth but she still is not stable enough to sedate to see if there is an injury
directly to her mouth/jaw or if this blood is coming from her lungs. Last night and the first part of the day she was on Oxygen. Since the afternoon though she has been able to be out of O2. The second set of xrays taken today at around 5PM show that her lungs are still congested with blood though and the air in her chest is still there.
Her condition does not seem to have worsened but has not significantly improved either. She is showing neurological issues from head trauma. She probably took quite a blow to her head and there is most likely swelling that is causing the neurolical symptoms. It will take a few days to see if she will improve.
She is not standing. Even to urinate she will not stand. She is on pain meds and that may be part of it or it could be from discomfort or head trauma. Not sure yet.
Please help us save this little girl. She deserves to know the loving touch of human hands.
