UPDATE

Poor Cody! Our fantastic foster mom took Cody to her vet for another check up, now that some of the swelling and infection has gone down. The vet said that the cartridge is exposed in his ears and found similar stuff going on in his mouth. The vet suspects that acid or some other corrosive substance was POURED in there. What is wrong with people? Poor Cody! Thank Dog Karma saved him and he is now in a loving home! Thanks to everyone who has donated!

Unfortunately, we see dogs like this all the time. It just breaks my heart. No one knows yet what happed to him. It could be strangles, or mange or something worse. We just don't know. But what we do know is we can't leave him in the shelter. Not like that. Not with no one to comfort him. So we have taken him under our wing and vow to help him get better, no matter what. No. Matter. What.

A note from a special volunteer:

Thank you guys for giving this tiny "elephant man" a chance to get better. I was let in the iso area to spend some one on one time with him... he's got a lot of stuff going on with his skin all over. Poor guy almost looks deformed, like his jaw never grew properly or something. Could he have been abused and neglected? I don't understand the singed whiskers... and some other stuff going on... The wonderful thing is, he is a sweet sweet guy. I'm sure the vet will end up doing some scraping and hopefully, he doesn't have sarcoptic mange or anything contagious because I would love to take the time to socialize him with other dogs and cats. I will call after the visit to keep you posted.

UPDATE: This poor puppy was attacked! His injuries have gotten infected and all the problems are from being mauled. This poor boy has been through so much in his short life. Not anymore.....
