Mayham NO More!
Rande heard about me from Kim, the lady who saved me and my sister. She just couldn't turn me away. I didn't know it at the time, but I only had 24 hours to live. I came to the shelter with my sister. (Thanks Kim!) It's a long story...hope I don't bore you....
Here it goes....
My sister's name was Terror. I was known as Mayham. We lived in a tiny yard with really mean people. The nice lady at the shelter told everyone that they were "very very bad people. Very bad." I have to agree. They were. We lived with about 20 other dogs. Most of them really mean. Me and my sister were put in a small room every night with some of those mean dogs. I would hide in the corner, but my sister would fight. She was really bad at it though. The other dogs would bite her and claw at her. That happened for a few months. It was terrible. Then the bad people moved and left us there.
Finally after what seemed weeks, we got out of that yard and went to find food and water. The bad people didn't leave us any. We were starving by that time! It was sad, I could see my sisters ribs and her coat got all dull and dirty. I guess I looked the same. We ended up at the shelter for a while and boy was that good. We got to eat and didn't have to fight any dogs on the street. Things were really starting to look up. Until...
The very mean, very bad man showed up at the shelter. He tried to take us back. He got really mad because my sister had some surgery that meant she couldn't have any more babies. She already had a bunch of puppies. She was happy about the surgery, even though it hurt. But the bad man was furious! He was so happy to learn I hadn't had my surgery yet. He tried to take me out, but the nice shelter people wouldn't let him unless I had surgery. Boy was I happy. Well, I was happy until I found out he took my sister with him. He said she could bait the other dogs. I knew what that meant and it wasn't good. I tried to run after her and save her, but the fence was in the way. I didn't even get to say goodbye to her. I pray for her everyday that she stays safe....or runs away...or finds a way back to the shelter.
Then Rande got me out and changed my name to Mason. I like it much better! Now I'm learning how to be around dogs again...I get really scared of them. I think they are mean like the ones I used to live with, only they aren't. They are really nice. I like it here. I wish my sister was here too.
Thank you so much for donating to my fund. I know it must be really a lot of money to keep me in such a great place and for all my great classes. I really really appreciate it!
I never knew people could be so nice.
LOVE MASON
