I am participating in PF Chang's Rock’n’Roll half marathon on January 17th, 2010. I will be running with the Miracles in Motion team through Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH). Miracles in Motion will raise vital funds for PCH. As the only comprehensive hospital in Arizona, PCH is the leading provider of pediatric care in the state serving more than twice the number of children than any other hospital in Arizona.
My Honor Patient's name is Delaney. I will be running on her behalf. Although we have not been able to meet, we have spoken on the phone. Delaney is a 15-year-old sophomore in high school. She has three cats and two dogs. Her favorite subject is math. She is also involved in choir and drama. When Delaney is grown she would like to become a fashion designer.
Delaney was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) on December 18, 2007. Her chromosomes flipped three times changing from AML to Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia (APL). She did 10 weeks of Arenic, and then she did two days of Daunorubicin. Delaney waited a month for her counts to drop and come back up. She did this one more time when she began maintenance. In spite of Delaney’s situation, because of PCH she believes anything is possible and to never give up.
Thanks to everyone who has donated so far!! Even though we have raised the minimum amount of $1,500, my personal goal is $2,000. We are soo close!!
I realize the economy has impacted everyone. However, the economy does not change the fact that these children are extremely ill and injured. They still need your support and donations. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Please help Delaney and other children like her. Just think about all of the children at PCH who might not ever be able to run in a marathon, or even walk. That definitely puts everything into perspective.
