Hello dear family and friends,
Thank you for reading my Citizen Schools update and for all of your support!
The student achievement results we are seeing are compelling. In our partnership schools in Boston, for example, students are making gains on standarized tests that equivalent to the high performing charter schools in Boston. We truly are helping traditional public schools to transform learning and opportunities for students.
In terms of individual impact, our student alumni speaker at our annual benefit a few weeks ago tells our and her story so beautifully. If you have a few minutes, please read and/or watch the video of her speech...here:
The other video here (embedded on this page) provides a great explanation of how our school partnerships work, through the lens of one of our partnership schools in California.
A personal highlight for me this year was seeing my favorite student, Antonio, from the study abroad apprenticeship I taught last year, be part of a "Managing the Celtics" apprenticeship this year. He and his teammates had the opportunity to present their plan to one of the actual owners of the Celtics, Steve Pagliuca, at their WOW! Antonio did a great job, and is already 6 inches taller!
Special thanks to Diane and Bob Savage, Jo and Bill McConaghy, Corrie and Tom Dretler, Katie and Jake McDonnell, Cooley Fales, Howard and Fredi Stevenson, and Donella Rapier for already making gifts to Citizen Schools this year.
Thank you for everything!
