Lori Ann Perkins - Lung Cancer Alliance Fundraising Page
As many of you know, Lori Ann Perkins, passed away July 30th, 2007, after many fierce months battling lung cancer. Those that have been blessed to know this incredible woman can relate to how much we dearly miss her beautiful, tender, and courageous spirit here on Earth.
She was the most supportive and caring mother we could have ever asked for. She always encouraged us to chase our dreams and she constantly cheered us on in whichever endeavors we participated in. This June, we know that she will be jumping up and down and screaming our names from the bleachers in the heavens above, as a group of us takes on the challenge of running 26.2 miles in the San Diego Rock & Roll Marathon. Our goal is to support those who are currently battling lung cancer as well as to commemorate those who have lost their lives to this disease.
All the funds we raise will be donated to the Lung Cancer Alliance (www.lungcanceralliance.org). Its mission is to lead the movement to reverse decades of stigma and neglect by empowering those with or at risk for the disease, elevating awareness and changing health policy. After Lori's diagnosis, she found this organization incredibly resourceful and supportive. Lung Cancer Alliance was also recently awarded the Independent Charities Seal of Excellence Award, provided to fewer than 2,000 charities that have, upon rigorous independent review, been able to demonstrate that they meet the highest standards of public accountability, program effectiveness, and cost effectiveness. We know Lori would be very proud of this achievement!
Please help us by donating whatever you can to support Lung Cancer Alliance's goal of eradicating the leading cause of cancer death in the world. We thank you in advance for your support.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
With Love,
