PEDIATRIC BRAIN TUMOR FOUNDATION

2010 Los Angeles Ride for KidsĀ® Torrance,  California

Louis Vanderveen's Fundraising Page

Dear friends

Wendy and I are raising money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.  This year we are dedicating our fund raising efforts in the memory of  "Scotty Ross"   Scotty is a inspiration to us all.  He worked tirelessly to help improve the lives of all children with disibilities.  I know there is a heaven. Scotty is there sitting next to Mike. He is smiling, waiting and watching over us.  Please ask me some time, and I will gladly share his story with you.

The National Ride for Kids program has become our passion. Over the years we have met some remarkable families that have been affected by this disease.  These children and their families are some of the bravest people we know.  No one should have deal with the suffering and loss they go through.  Unfortunately some of the kids are no longer with us.  That is why we are asking you to join us along with thousands of other volunteers that are making a real difference.  Help us give these courageous kids

One more day, One more month, Another year of Life.

Below is a excerpt from Jim and Jodi Watkinson, Scottys Aunt and Uncle

Imagine being told that your 18 month old son has Leukemia.
Imagine the pain of watching him as he suffers through Chemotherapy, Radiation and eventually a bone marrow transplant.
Imagine the stress of waiting for the results of the endless tests.
Imagine the roller coaster ride of being told that he is in remission, then that he has fallen out of remission or has some other problem associated with his treatment.
Imagine the joy of watching this boy grow into a passionate, sensitive young man, an advocate for the disabled, a role model to all his friends.
Imagine that at 16 he is diagnosed with a brain tumor, and that surgery is performed to remove it, followed by more chemo and radiation.
Imagine that at 19 yrs old, tests show that the tumor has returned, there is nothing more that can be done, and you are being sent home and told to enjoy what time you have left.                                                                                                                             Imagine watching your son slowly succumb to the brain tumor and never lose his faith, dignity, or sense of humor.

This is the story of Bill and Joan Ross and their son Scott Patrick Ross.

Imagine
that you can help find a cure and prevent other families from having to go through this.

Everyday Nine families are told that a child of theirs has a Brain Tumor.  Of those families, 4 of the children will not survive.
