Our children at the Jacaranda School for Orphans in Malawi lack a proper Arts & Craft program. We desperately need to:
a. Employ an Arts teacher, who will teach Arts to all our 12 primary and secondary school classes.
b. Buy Arts supplies (crayons, paint, brushes, paper, etc).
c. Introduce Arts History as a subject in secondary school
d. Create an Arst & Craft workshop at the school, where children will learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, simple woodwork, etc.
Our children at Jacaranda School are extremely creative and talented. When given the material and the guidance, we have noticed how skilled they are. Arts and Craft is a way for these orphans to express themselves emotionally. The children come from very underprivileged homes, several live by themselves and have to care for their younger relatives. Art can help them channel their emotions. With a proper Arts and Craft workshop at the Jacaranda School, the children will have the chance to learn and enjoy new techniques in a peaceful environment. The children are so eager to learn.
Thank you for helping these orphans express and find themselves through Arts and Craft.
Marie Da Silva.
