Ministering the love and forgiveness that Jesus Christ offers to deaf people is something that is so very dear to my heart. I guess I can safely say that it is my "magnificent obsession". Over fifteen years ago I was introduced to the language and culture of deaf people and shortly after became involved in deaf ministry. Throughout the years I have met some wonderful deaf people and those that are likeminded in reaching the deaf with the Gospel of Jesus Christ .
I was also introduced to some wonderful and reputable ministries that are laboring so tirelessly to reach deaf people throughout the world with the message of salvation through Jesus Christ, and Silent Blessing Deaf Ministries is one of those ministries. I strongly support and believe in what Silent Blessing Deaf Ministries is doing, especially one of their latest projects namely "Dr Wonders Workshop".
Dr Wonder's Workshop is the most comprehensive media outreach ever designed for deaf children (they are the future of the deaf community), who are some of the most spiritually impoverished children in the world. Recently,I was really excited when I viewed the program on both Trinity Broadcasting Network and Daystar, two christian stations. Each half hour program features a humorous episode with a cast of zany characters, who work in the research lab of an inventor name Dr. Wonder. The children learn how to apply scripture principles of living to their relationships with one another. It also teaches positive lifestyle values and shows how the Bible and a relationship with God are relevant to their lives. All of the characters use American Sign Language (ASL). The program also has an audio track of voice overs, sound effects and music to delight hearing children as well.
Only God knows the full impact that this television series is making not only on deaf children, but families as well. Please join me in partnering with this ministry to reach deaf children with the message of love and forgiveness that Jesus Christ offers. Your donation will enable Silent Blessings to continue the work they are doing, including reaching thousands of deaf children with the life changing message of Jesus Christ.
Just in case you are wondering why this cause is important to me. I read a while back that it is estimated that at least 90% of deaf children grow up in hearing homes. These children, either born deaf or who lose their hearing at a very young age, are often left isolated and alone. Hearing parents may have rudimentary signing skills, or may not learn sign language at all. The vast wealth of children's books and programs that are available to hearing kids are of no use to deaf kids, because their English skills are well below hearing children at the same grade level. Deaf children born into hearing homes often grow up without ever having a parent tell them a Bible story or pray with them at night. Just think of what your donation will do for these children.
