The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) is a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that is governed by a Board of Directors. The RISPCA is not affiliated with any national, state, or government agencies and relies on private donations, special events, and grants for operating expenses. The Society was the first humane organization in Rhode Island and is the 3rd oldest humane organization in the United States. At 140 years old, we are the only animal rescue organization in the state of Rhode Island that is empowered to investigate and prosecute cases of animal cruelty and neglect. Your support helps us provide quality care for over 2,000 animals that come to our shelter seeking a second chance each year, continue to investigate and prosecute cases of animal cruelty and neglect, continue to offer our Humane Education programs to local schools, youth, and adult groups free of charge, and continue our community outreach programs.
