HERE'S A WAY TO MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE and leave your footprint on the other side of the world!
If you ever felt like you as just one person can't make a difference - think differently!
Here's a way you can make a tremendous difference - even if it's a small amount - and know that your dollar won't just go to work temporarily and disappear but instead multiply and expand in the difference it makes (that's the best part!). Know that your dollar gets the most bang for the buck (literally)
YOU can be part of being the ones who finally come to the aid of the Forgotten Refugees (as deemed by the UN) and also support my ensuing trip over there to be a part of personally delivering this much needed support.
For some background...
I looked for over a year as to where I would dedicate all my efforts and support, studied various organizations, contributed to various foundations, researched - you name it.
Then I heard Mohammed Yunus speak (who moved me to my core) and studied his work. If you don't know already, he won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2006 for his micro-finance model that is helping villages around the world become self-sustained (so that they're no longer reliant on hand-outs, their kids get educated, peace comes to villages and it helps end poverty as a whole - if you know anything about it you know how brilliant a model this is and the tremendous difference its making now around the world). Instead of giving one dollar and that dollar is used and gone forever - just one dollar becomes exponentially more and more in how this system works.
After learning all about him, I knew his work was the answer so I listened to my heart as to where I would give my focus.
That's when Zebiba came into my world and her organization, "Healing Bridges" (see: www.healingbridges.org),
Zebiba is an African who escaped her village in Eritrea that had been ravaged by constant warfare (atrocities that mirror Darfur) and made her way as a young teenager to the Eritrean Refugee camp in Sudan.
She was there for a few years and somehow was able to get out of there and get to America (which is miraculous because most of these refugees - over 200,000 of them - basically come there to wait and die - some have been there for 40 years...).
Once in America, she adapted and eventually created a successful business.
Now she was ready for her next step so she then sold her business - sold everything in fact -and went to India to hands-on study Mohammed Yunus and his work and what they were doing there with the micro-finance model.
She saw what it takes, what is needed, how to do it responsibly and also where any missing gaps were.
Coming back to America, she now completely dedicates her life to helping the Eritreans and their need.
Unfortunately, sfter some years of work there and making good progress, Eritrea now forbids her to come into the country - as it is led by a dictator who wants control and doesn't want her providing help.
So Zebiba has organized a group of us to go to Sudan and help the Eritrean Refugees there.
This will be Zebiba's FIRST time going back to Sudan and this refugee camp where she had once lived.
The UN calls them the Forgotten Refugees because there are over 200,000 of them, 80% women and children and some have been there for over 40 years and they aren't receiving any help.
With the work SHE is doing, I see Zebiba and Healing Bridges as the whole and complete answer.
She provides Mohammen Yunus' work with the micro-finance - AND, in addition, immediately implements the other solutions such as drilling wells for clean water (so kids and women don't need to walk 2 - 6 hours every day just to get water - diseased water no less), She builds and repars schools, sponsors children to get an education and brings over doctors via "Medicine For Humanity" to provide much needed medical care.
Its been a dream of mine to go to Africa and other parts of the world and provide hands-on help - get down and dirty in the trenches and see hands-on what they are going through and help them in whatever way I can. ,
In less than two weeks, that dream comes true as I will be joining Zebiba and 10 others with this worthy mission under the Healing Bridges umbrella to help the Eritrean Refugees there (YES - I'm going over there any day now - whew!) ,
They are in dire need and tend to be forgotten over other areas that are getting attention and aid. ,
We will also be bringing over 3 high school kids, ages 13-17 years old to help - thus bridging the American youth with the African youth and having both sides learn from each other. In fact, we're doing a documentary on it that will be filmed while we're over there with the intention of spreading the word of both, the dire need there for the forgotten refugees and the message of hope that no matter who you are, nor how old, you CAN make a difference. ,
That's where YOU come in! ,
WE NEED WHATEVER HELP AND SUPPORT YOU CAN GIVE! ...YES, YOU!!!,

Please SPREAD THE WORD. Send out to your lists, tell your resources you know, let us know of possible sponsors and help us reach our goal and beyond.
Big or small, everything counts!
Speaking of 'big' - if you are a major company owner or know of someone who is or you're connected to them - please let them know about this. Imagine having photos of you or your company's name engraved on a well (as they do with all wells and their donors) with the grateful refugees or villagers around it - and you're being able to actively demonstrate the powerful difference your company made - not to mention feeling so connected to the opposite side of the world and the direct impact your donation made.
Just ONE well can transform a village and that only takes $12-15,000. That one well supplies clean water for a village of people - which in turn lets more kids go to school so they don't have to walk for hours each way to collect water for the day - which also eliminates the disease and other issues that arise out of the muddy, disease infested scarce water they do drink from.
Schools will be built and there's all sorts of room for help with that. But even on a small scale - everything counts!
Just $25 sponsors a kid to go to school for a month. $100 helps a family of kids to go for a month. $1200 supports an entire family for a year. See the HUGE difference you can make? Even a small amount!
We're SO lucky to have the lives we have, to turn on a faucet and have clean water pour out, to have school be a natural and provided part of our culture, to have medical aid available for us and more. Lets give back as a way of demonstrating our gratitude and our faith in abundance.
I thank you from my heart and will be blogging about the experience every day once there to share with you.
With faith in how we can save lives and make huge impact in the smallest of ways right from the few clicks of internet donations -and with love and gratitude,
Lynn
PS Its my goal that we raise $25,000 via this site
