In December of 2005, we had a new Wheaten Terrer puppy who brought us into the world of rescue. I saw a picture in the paper of a dog from the PAC (then the Riverside Humane Society) that looked very Wheaten, so I decided to check him out and see if he was a candidate for the rescue group I was working with. Luckily, that dog had already been adopted. There was another one there, though, listed as a 'poodle mix' that intrigued me. 'Richie' was a barker, but it was a low, soulful bark that told me he was pleading to come home.
After a short visit with our new puppy and husband, 'Richie' immediately endeared himself to both and thoughts of turning him over to anyone else but us disappeared. He became Clancy and now, six and a half years later, he is just the best dog ever. He is likely a purebred Wheaten Terrier and loves his family, which includes my husband and I, our kids, his fur-buddies Cassie and Cagney, and any visitor he meets.
I'm now retired and volunteer at the PAC. There are so many more stories like mine of folks who have found their forever fur-family member. This is an organization that deserves your support!
