SPECIAL OLYMPICS NORTH CAROLINA

2011 Special Olympics World Games Athens, Greece,

2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games

Special Olympics North Carolina athlete Andy Delafield, a distance runner from Greensboro will go for the gold when he competes in the 2011 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens, Greece June 25-July 4! The 32 year-old, self-motivated runner developed his passion for the sport and life after surviving a battle with cancer just three years ago!  He will compete in the 3,000m, 5000m running events as well as the US 4x 100 relay team.  He is super excited to win in Greece and has been training very hard. Thank you so much for visiting his fundraising page!

He along with four other Special Olympics North Carolina athletes will be a part of a celebration of the abilities and accomplishments of people with intellectual disabilities and clear progress toward a new global vision of acceptance.  View the WGHP-FOX 8 story on Andy!

"I feel good when I run a race," says Andy. "I want to win because I'm fast. I want to be the fastest one there.  Greece, here I come!"
