Madalyn Medley's 2010 Fundraising Page
Hi, if you don't know me yet, my name is Madalyn (Maddy) and I was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in July of 2009. Since the walk last year my lupus has been very active and has had a huge impact on my life and my family's. Before lupus we used to enjoy camping, hiking, gardening, and almost every other outdoor activity. Now our lives are punctuated by my four year old daughter Annabella saying, "My mom can't go in the sun, but that's ok I don't like sun anymore." I spend most days indoors with my swollen legs elevated. I have been unable to work or even, during a bad flare-up, stand for more than ten minutes at a time. As I said last year, we are determined to not be just another statistic. We are fighting each and every day with all that we've got.
I am so blessed to have such a wonderful and supportive husband (David). He takes care of me and Annabella. He has taken on the roll two healthy people on top of his job and full time school. I would also like to thank the most supportive neighbors in the world and the staff at Primrose School; I couldn't have wished for a better team by my side. Thank you all, and know that your support means that there might finally be a legitimate treatment for Lupus patients.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
