Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
Past spring breaks found me relaxing and recharging my scholastic batteries. This year I wanted to raise money and awareness about safe drinking water.
On April 2, 2011, I completed a full marathon. That's 26.2 miles of running torture. I am not a huge fan of running so this was quite a challenge for me!
On April 9, 2011, I completed a 2.5 mile swim. I do enjoy swimming but do not come from a swimming background so once again it was quite a challenge.
Neither of these events come close to the challenges faced by women and children in the developing world where they have to walk almost four miles to collect water. On average they use 5 gallons a day. Can you imagine carrying 5 gallons of water every day? Five gallons weighs 40 pounds! Oh and the average American uses 100 gallons a day.
Its not time to rest and I am busy looking for creative and fun ways to raise additional money.
Monies raised not only provides safe drinking water for other families but helps other kids stay in school.
Thank you for supporting me and for helping others gain access to safe drinking water.
