Hi! Meet Madison Holboke. Madison has Asperger's Syndrome. Asperger's is a high-functioning autism. Since one of her main difficulties is recognizing social clues, Madison was enrolled at Equest. Equest provides therapy to over 440 riders each year. The equine assisted therapy program couples horses with treatment to offer specialized levels of therapy to children and adults with varying levels of physical and cognitive disabilities.

The relationship between the riders and Equest therapy horse is the catalyst to miracles in the lives of the special needs riders. While at Equest, Madison has bonded with "Haley." She has learned what she needs because she doesn't speak. This has also helped her in daily life. We are truly grateful to Equest and what a blessing it has been.

Keeping the horses healthy, happy and properly trained and conditioned to meet the needs of the riders is absolutely necessary to be able to continue providing these miracles. Well care for each of Equest's 33 therapy horses is more than $5,000 per year. The therapy horses are the most important asset to the organization and the cost of care far exceeds the amount charged to the riders.
