The children of Southern Sudan have endured much. Their country has been torn by one of the longest civil wars in the history of mankind. Many have lost their parents and caregivers, and live with the bare necessities of life.
For these children, education presents the greatest opportunity to break this cycle of poverty. Yet in this region of Africa, nearly 80% of children are illiterate and only 20% manage to complete primary school. Much of the difficulty faced by students and their teachers is the lack of even the most basic school supplies. “Classrooms” often consist of the shaded ground under a tree. And children, lacking pencils and paper, often write or draw in the sand as their teachers instruct them.
“School on Wheels,” a project partnership between the Azande Organization and World Vision, is dedicated to providing up to 1,000 “Promise Packs” for school age children in Southern Sudan. Promise Packs, filled with school supplies, personal hygiene items, a Bible and a warm blanket, are a tangible statement of love and support for children in great need. Each Promise Pack is $25.00.
Please give generously and through Promise Packs, help these children realize their own God-given promise.
