A Mile of Quarters for the Rape Crisis Center
Any journey begins with the first step.
Our goal is to collect a Mile of Quarters. Thirteen quarters makes up a foot, or a step. At the end of our journey, we hope to have over 68,000 quarters. Each step will take us closer to meeting our goal of serving victims of sexual violence and ending rape in our community.
We serve over 300 victims every year. Our clients range from 2 years old to 81. We serve children, women, men, and families. All of our services are free. Your donations will allow us to continue to provide excellent, non-judgemental, and free services to anyone in our community who wants them. Our services are available 24-hours, everyday. Even though we are located in a rural community, we have one of the busiest Rape Crisis Centers in the state. Part of this is because the community we are in is the third most impoverished community in the whole United States. Part of it is because we provide really good, reliable, confidential services.
May 23rd - We are beginning to wind down our campaign in our community. Yesterday, we received $21.31 from three of the service sites with Robeson Health Care. What's most impressive is that the collection cans were placed in Patient service areas which means that much of the money came from people there for medical services and who had other worries of their own. I am so touched at the number of people who will put aside their own concerns to help our agency.
We also have a few more donations through this page. You folks should see the happy dance we do when we receive notice of a FirstGiving donation. I can't begin to describe how good it has been for me to see the support and generosity of people who care about the work we do, and the people we serve.
I'll continue to update our distance as time ticks by, so continue to stop by and see how we're doing.
