Hello, Friends and Family,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I never truly understood the term "battling cancer" until I witnessed it these past seven months. My mother, Mary Ann Boland, is truly fighting the fight against her ovarian cancer, and it's been quite a battle. It's touched her the most, but has impacted significantly on the life of my father and on the lives of my siblings and me. My brother Jerry stayed for about seven months to help out my parents; my sister Jane also came for six weeks at the holidays and will return for three months in July.....both came from Australia and took time off work. My youngest sister Kate lives out of town, but flies in frequently for week ends and extended care stays. My local brother Paul and his wife Angela help out as much as they can, and my great husband, Jack, is always willing to do whatever it takes to ease a tough situation.
As a family we are blessed to be able to provide this much care, but we owe a lot to Stewart's Caring Place. This facility has provided informational books and literature, wigs, chemo hats, and support through group meetings, one on one support, and eventually Mom and I may take advantage of their exercise programs. I am particularly interested in their yoga classes.......What's amazing is that all this service is offered free of charge to cancer patients and their care givers.
All you wonderful friends and family have asked how you can help.......and here's a suggestion.....
We'd like to give back so that other families, especially those a lot smaller than ours, can benefit from the support and services of Stewart's. I'm asking you to support me in my fund-raising walk for Stewart's Caring Place.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. If you're not comfortable with on-line donation, you can send a personal check to my home address or to my parents' home address. Please make the check out to Stewart's Caring Place.
I'll be walking the 2.3 miles, which is nothing for a healthy person, but it will mean the world to a family impacted by cancer!
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
Thanks in advance for your support!
Best regards,
Margaret Boland O'Toole
