Thank you for visiting my fundraising page! Please help sponsor Sunny, his cat Spek & I in the Paws For A Cause SPCA (www.peninsulaspca.com) walk on Sunday, May 20th at Riverview Farm Park (across the street from Menchville HS). This is the site of the first dog park in Newport News, Fido Field.
I adopted Sunny's cat Spek from the SPCA when he was no larger than a dog's snout. As I walked through the cat room this tiny creature kept reaching out of his cage with both paws trying to touch me. The kitten in the next cage was prettier however this guy kept begging me to take him home. I did and he has been fantastic, extremely patient and tolerant. He has endured a large, gentle black Lab (Max) and now a young excitable Golden Retriever. Not to mention the ever moving of the food dish in an effort to hide it from Sunny.
I'm occasionally asked why I have pets in my house (it's messy, etc). My answer to that is: "I'm fortunate enough to have a good home. The animals deserve the same and love too. Since I have both to offer, I should share it with them". After all, animals are the only things on earth that love you more than they love themselves.
We have all shared our lives with pets whether it's a dog, cat, horse, lizard, spider, bird, it just doesn't matter - we love them all the same. One important note to remember - we are here for them, they are not here for us. They depend on us for food, a drink of water, comfort, love and companionship. We all know the pain of having to say goodbye to our partners as well, but we are better humans for having shared our lives with them.
Show your support in memory of a beloved pet, or in support of your current soul mate and his/her buddies in need of a family.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who loves animals or wants to join the walk!!
