The Arc is a nationwide movement that provides advocacy & resources for citizens with cognitive, intellectual, & developmental disabilities and their families. In Pennsylvania, chapters of The Arc exist in 44 counties & a statewide chapter, The Arc of Pennsylvania, is located in our state capital.

The state & local chapters of The Arc across Pennsylvania make a difference in lives of people with disabilities and their families every day! At the local level, many chapters of The Arc provide in-home supports, transportation, employment, advocacy, & residential services. Other chapters may provide family support or advocacy only. All chapters are committed to supporting people with disabilities and their families. The Arc is the largest family-driven, grassroots organization of its kind.

In Harrisburg, The Arc of Pennsylvania works to make sure public funding is secured for programs & services, laws are been passed to protect the rights of people with disabilities, & local chapters of The Arc are informed about systemic issues impacting their members & programs locally.

The Arc is committed to people for whom it exists, whether they are people with mental retardation, Down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy, or other developmental disabilities. The Arc works to support these valued members of society so that they can live self-determined, "everyday" lives in their communities.
