Phoebe's Story
Hi
I need your help and the picture to the left is why. This is the Mann's family and one of my past fosters Phoebe. Phoebe story was a very sad one. She was found in Kentucky left tied to a pole in an off season resort after giving birth to puppies. Her owner just tied her up and left her a mother without her puppies. We don't know what happen to the puppies but, we know what happened to Phoebe. A nice older gentleman found her and took her home and called Guardian Angel Basset Rescue. The rescue picked her up and took her to the vet to check her over and give her any medical attention that she would need. The vet's had Phoebe for awhile waiting to Spay her before sending her to her first stop on her way to a new loving home.
That's when I received a phone call telling me that there's a 2 year old female basset coming from Indiana and needing someone to foster her. When I picked up Phoebe I cried she was skin and bones. She could barely walk much less lift up her head. When I took her home she weighted 29 pounds. A basset her size should weight 45 pounds. So I spent the next couple of week fatten her up while I waited for the phone to ring. And the phone did ring three wonderful people saw her on our website and wanted her for their family. I choose the Mann's family because they were the right family for her they had plenty of love to give.
If my story about Phoebe touched your heart Please help me raise funds for Guardian Angel Basset rescue. On September 20, 2009 I will go to Dwight IL for the 12th Annual Waddle. The Illinois Waddle is a weekend long celebration of the breed attended annually by over 1,000 bassets and their families; it is Guardian Angel’s primary source of funding. I raise money and support GABR because Basset Hounds have touched my life. GABR is comprised of hardworking, exceptional and committed non-paid volunteers who are dedicated to helping Bassets in need. It’s the kind of group I want to support – that’s why I WADDLE and foster bassets like Phoebe!
