Ria runs Boston 2009
Hello, and welcome to my fundraising page!
I’m running the 113th Boston Marathon on April 20, 2009 on behalf of CYCLE Kids – an independent, nonprofit organization centered on introducing children to the world of cycling, healthy eating, physical fitness, and environmental awareness. Running Boston has always been a dream for me. And while this Marathon Monday will definitely be different from the past - I'm really excited to take on the challenge.
Plus I've always been grateful that I was raised on good food and fresh air. Running for CYCLE Kids helps open that door for hundreds of children each year. Cycling, too, promotes carbon-free transporation. And as a recent college grad working in the nonprofit field on climate change -- this issue bares particular importance to me. So in many ways this marathon and the cause Cycle Kids champions, is a way for me to walk my talk.
Please give* as generously as you can in helping me reach my goal of raising $3,000. Every little bit adds up. By supporting me, you will be supporting health awareness, sustainable living, and the wellbeing of future generations.
Thank you!
Ria

More about CYCLE Kids:
CYCLE Kids provides schools with a physical education curriculum that is a cost-effective, healthy lifestyle, bicycle-skills and safety program for children ages 8-12. Schools are provided with brand new bikes and helmets and a workbook-based curriculum. We are also working with collaborators at Boston University to do pre- and post-testing of students to understand short-term program impact, both in physical exercise and healthy food choices. Our results will be used to develop a new curriculum for schools that will combine health lessons and physical education.
Since its founding in 2004, CYCLE Kids has reached more than 1,800 children in metro Boston and New York City; 24% of these children learned how to ride bikes for the first time.
