2010 marks the beginning of a new decade for struggle for a just Oakland and the first time in 25 years that Oakland will host a marathon. The run will be on March 28th and a celebration of Oakland's rich history of community resistance in the Fruitvale, Chinatown and West Oakland neighborhoods.
Causa Justa : Just Cause (the union of Just Cause Oakland and St. Peter's Housing Committee) is gearing up its fight for racial and economic justice and has a team running the half-marathon (13.1 miles) or the 5k (3.4 miles).
This run is supporting Causa Justa
: Just Cause's fight for a just Oakland and beyond. It is part of our Unity Fund, a 1-year grassroots fund-raising effort, to support our
massive undertaking of merging Just Cause Oakland and St. Peter's Housing Committee and becoming a fierce organization that brings
together African-American and Latino membership from both sides of the Bay.
