The Walk for Awareness: Our Fight Against Breast Cancer was founded six years ago by Jill and Paul Fader after Jill's battle with breast cancer. The Walk's goals are to raise awareness of the importance of early detection and to raise funds for the Breast Care Center at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center primarily to provide free screening mammograms for women in the community with limited or no health coverage. The Walk has raised over $425,000 since 1999. These funds have paid for screening mammograms, ultrasounds and fine needle aspirations for uninsured and underinsured women; genetic counseling and testing for men and women at high risk for hereditary breast cancer; patient education; and state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment for the Breast Care Center.
