Marianne Clay Strittmatter's Fundraising Page
Thanks so much for visiting my fundraising page and for your interest in helping all those with lupus including my daughter. Jere and I are very grateful that you've stopped by.
Though a major disease, lupus is one of the least recognized. For example, until learning more about lupus, I had no idea that more people have lupus than have leukemia, cystic fibrosis, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, and sickle cell anemia combined. About 66,000 people in Pennsylvania have lupus, and more than two million Americans struggle with this chronic, autoimmune disease.
For unknown reasons, the immune system in lupus patients runs amok. Instead of serving as the body's protector, the immune system attacks healthy tissue and organs, causing far-reaching and wide-ranging problems.
While medical science has yet to find a cause or a cure for lupus, current research promises a brighter future and progress is being made. Meanwhile, lupus patients must wait, as no major new treatments have been approved in the last 40 years!
Your donation can really help, and giving through this web site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts.
Many thanks for your support -- and please forward this to anyone who might be interested. If you'd like to learn more about lupus or if you'd like to become involved, please contact me.
Hugs!
Marianne
