Marilynn Mee's Fundraising Page
Hi! I’m Marilynn Mee, the mid-day host on 96.5 WKLH, Milwaukee ’s Home of Classic Rock. If you look at the picture, I’m the one with the small nose! With me are Natalie, my black lab mix and Geoffrey, my basset hound who I named after my late uncle. I also have two tabby cats, Scout and Simon who are both rescues...and I'm foster-mom to Rudy, an exceptionally sweet, handsome thirteen year old basset in the early stages of cancer.
Nat, Geoffy and I here now to ask you to please make a pledge for the HAWS 27th Annual Pet Walkathon. We’d truly appreciate any donation you’re able to make. Our goal is to raise a very WKLH sum of $965.00.
All of my pets were someone else’s cast-offs. They were unwanted and unloved. But – because of animal welfare facilities like HAWS and the hardworking, caring volunteers and staff who make shelters and rescues possible, Scout, Simon, Natalie and Geoffrey all got second chances…and I got pets who give me joy and unconditional love every single day.
This is a great opportunity for you to make a difference; in animals’ lives and in people's lives. Your donation, large or small, will not only help HAWS continue to help the animals, but help them to continue the great work they do in the community with humane education. Teaching young kids the beauty of love and respect for animals can help to instill a sense of compassion that will carry over into other aspects of their lives as they grow up…and that makes our world a better place!
Listen -- I know times are tough for all of us these days; it's hard to donate money to a charity when you're doing all you can just to keep up with your own expenses. Perhaps you can get four friends or co-workers to each give you a dollar...and you put in one...and there's a five-dollar pledge! And if everyone who reads this does that...well...just think how much we can help the animals!
This has been another tough year for HAWS and animal shelters across the country. Due to the economy - the loss of jobs, home foreclosures, loss of health insurance, etc. - tens of thousands of people have been forced to give up their pets. Thank heavens that shelters like HAWS exist to take in these displaced pets, but they can't continue to do it without financial support so let's do all that we can to help!
With love and thanks from the bottom of my heart,
Marilynn
