TEAM 'KLH
Hi! I’m Marilynn Mee, the mid-day host on 96.5 WKLH,
Milwaukee ’s Home of Classic Rock. If you look at the picture, I’m the blonde one. With me are Natalie, my ten year old black lab mix and Geoffrey, my five year old basset hound who I named after my late uncle. I also have a three year old tabby cat named Scout. We’re here to ask you to please make a pledge for the HAWS Walk-A-Thon. Scout’s not going to walk (too much dog drool in one place), but Natalie, Geoffrey and I are going to (along with Blackie Bear, the Hurricane Katrina dog I'm fostering right now) and we’d truly appreciate any donation you’re able to make. My goal is to raise $1,965.00.
All three of my pets were someone else’s cast-offs. They were unwanted and unloved. But – because of humane animal welfare facilities like HAWS and the hardworking, caring volunteers who make shelters and rescues possible, Scout, Natalie and Geoffrey all got second chances…and I got three who pets who give me joy and unconditional love every single day.
This is a great opportunity for you to make a difference; in animals’ lives and in peoples’ lives. Your pledge, whether it's large or small, will not only help HAWS continue to help the animals, but help them to continue the great work they do in the community with humane education. Teaching young kids the beauty of love and respect for animals can help to instill a sense of compassion that will carry over into other aspects of their lives as they grow up…and that makes our world a better place!
UPDATE: I've got a couple new members on TEAM 'KLH. Kris Tugel (along with her goldens Jake & Ginger) and Phil Jacobs (along with his dobies) will be walking with Geoffrey, Natalie and me. Oh - and I can't forget to mention Blackie, the Hurricane Katrina dog I'm fostering right now (since two dogs in my tiny house just didn't seem like enough!) I'm hoping that Caryn from Operation Bring Animals Home will be there with us on Saturday, too!
