DOGS DESERVE BETTER INC

Chain Off 2010 National (Alachua FL and Albuquerque NM),

Marion Hewko's Fundraising Page

On July 1, 2010, I will chain myself up at Mill Lake Park in Abbotsford BC from 7 AM till 9 PM. Come out and support this great cause..

Every day, I drive by too many homes where beautiful innocent dogs are chained to a tether looking sad and bored, neglected, in the summer their water bowls are empty, in the winter their water bowls are full with ice..they do not have a blanket to lie on..Last december (2009) we rescued a shihtzu of a chain, the poor guy was skinny, covered in fleas, and very cold as there was no protection from the elements, He was vetted, put in foster care and then was adopted by his foster parents..Once he was healthy enough, he was neutered...It breaks my heart to see this treatment of dogs, and we want to continue to raise awareness that chaining dogs is cruel.  The dogs are often being victimized by kids, as well as other animals and they only way they know how to defend themselves is to bite..and they ultimately will pay the price for hurting people and or other animals..this could all be prevented if they were inside the home. We have seen 2 months old puppies chained up,  they should be able to live happy puppy lifes, with toys and love from their humans..Thank goodness that sometimes people realize that the life they provide for their dog is not what their dog deserves and at times decide to give up owner ship of the dog to Dogs Deserve Better. We will provide vet care for all the dogs, such as shots, spay and neuter and the ownership changes to companionship or guardianship. There are no chains in the lives of the surrendered dogs and to see them so happy in loving homes is the best reward we as dog lovers can hope for..However it does cost money to help the dogs to live these kind of awesome lives..that is where you come in. Every year we chain our selves up to A) raise awareness that chaining any dog is cruel

and B) to raise money so we can help more dogs to come of the chains.

Dogs are social animals who love to live inside with their families. Dogs are not  lawn ornaments.
