Why am I doing this?
I recently participated in a program for young adult cancer survivors where we spent 5 days in the back woods of Montana and Idaho practicing mindfulness techniques, getting closer to nature, and ourselves. It was the first time in 10 years since my first diagnosis that I allowed myself to be vulnerable and fully accept and process this strange gift that cancer has been. I was finally amongst my peers! Please help me raise money to give this opportunity to another brave warrior.

I will be plunging at Coney Island at 1 pm New Years Day. Water is typically around 33 degrees, excluding the wind chill. To stay safe, I expect to last not much longer than 10 minutes in order to survive and limit hypothermia. I hope to be in a minimum of 5 min. I will be wearing only a bikini and surf booties. I am not trying to hurt myself too much in doing this! There will be emergency medical staff on site and some one watching me to tell me when I need to get out. ( yes I have agreed to actually listen to this person and they dont have any grudges against me)

I was first diagnosed at 22, and I've had some recurrences since. Life has never been the same, but I’ve learned to accept it and it drives me to try everything once! I spent 3 years in my early twenties traveling through Latin America, after my first series of treatments, which I realized later was more of an escape than self discovery.
