Are you down for the cause?
My name is Mark Dalmacio, and I am a 20-year-old from South Lake Tahoe, California. I am currently a junior Screenwriting major at California State University, Northridge in the San Fernando Valley in Northridge, California. I'm also a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, the nation's largest fraternity.
First, I have many passions in life but the two I'd like to share with you are my passions for longboard skateboarding and philanthropy. I have always sought a way to combine the two, until I stumbled on two guys, Dave Cornthwaite and Adam Colton. Each of them have pioneered massive skateboard philanthropies, skating across the UK, Australia, New Zealand and even the US.

So what do I wanna do?
---
On April 4th, 2009, I, accompanied by a support crew of 3-5 with one lead car and one trail car, will longboard skateboard from South Lake Tahoe, CA to Northridge, CA, approximately 435 miles, in the name of one cause:
To raise money for Crohn's Disease or ulcerative colitis. All proceeds are going DIRECTLY to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.
The cause is unknown, and, despite the development of promising new medications, the cure remains unknown as well. The donations will help fund critical research for improving treatment and finding a cure for Crohn's and Colitis, as well as support programs for those who live with these diseases every day.
This philanthropy, entitled Kick, Push, Cure, hopes to raise $3,000 towards the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.
Why am I doing this? Though I may not have Crohn's or Colitis, I have spent too much time seeing friends I love and care about suffer it's effects. Maybe you know someone who has Crohn's or Colitis. Wouldn't you like to help find a cure for them?
Can it be done? Yes! Check out Dave and Adam's journeys! My 435 mile journey pales in comparison to theirs!
---
The journey will start on April 4th at South Tahoe High School in South Lake Tahoe, California and end on April 11th at California State University, Northridge in Northridge, California. I will be skating 60-70 miles a day, and sleeping in a (hopefully donated!) motel room every night along the way.
