CanMass Challenge/Jim Ray Memorial DOUBLE Century
Every year for the past decade, Steve Gronlund and Mark Ray have pedaled 100 miles on our bikes in Mark's dad's name to raise money for the American Heart Association.
Since Mark's dad was a big cyclist, and he died of heart disease, we’ve been able to raise more than $85,000 to combat the disease that claimed his life, the lives of relatives and friends of our cycling partners, and is the leading cause of death across the country. Thanks to so many of you for your generosity!
Last year, we were thrilled to have Victor Nuovo join the team for the 2010 century ride. This year, we’re welcoming Patrick McCormick and Tim Pudvar to the trio. And, we’re riding a few weeks later than usual so that we’re as close as possible to the summer solstice. Why?
We’re cycling from the Canadian border to the Massachusetts border -- a DOUBLE century, so we need all the daylight we can get! We’ll also be joined by Tim’s brother Todd Pudvar, who will serve as chief van driver, navigator, mechanic, DJ, Gatorade & food provider, and spiritual advisor for the estimated 14-15 hours we’ll be on the road.
Please join the insanity by sponsoring us with your tax-deductible donation to fight heart disease and stroke.
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure, or you can send a check payable to the “American Heart Association” to Mark at this address: Mark Ray, c/o Kelliher Samets Volk, 212 Battery Street, Burlington, VT 05401.
While you’re on this site, check out the short video Steve and Mark did for the ride two years ago (editing kudos to Alex Tursi). The First Giving link displayed in the video has changed, but the story is the same.
We’ve doubled our mileage this year. We’re hoping that a similar bump will happen in our donations!
Thank you!
