Team Logan
Five years ago, our son Logan passed away at the age of 2 months. He was diagnosed with a diaphragmatic hernia in utero. He then battled strangulation of the umbilical cord a month before he was due which led to his early delivery. After he was born, he was also diagnosed with a coarctation of the heart. After several surgeries and a battle with pneumonia, he lost his fight. We, as a family were heartbroken to lose our son after such a tremendous effort to keep him alive.
We knew that we wanted to honor his short life in some way. We have decided to join efforts with our friends and family to fundraise money for Riley Children's Hospital by participating in the Bop to the Top race. Contributions made will help the many children and families, like ourselves, who depend on Indiana's first and only comprehensive pediatric facility. These donations will ultimately help Riley Hospital achieve medical milestones that translate directly to improved care and lives saved.
We are designating that all donations go towards the ECMO unit which were responsible for giving our son a chance to survive past the delivery room. Without this life-support system, many sick babies would not have the chance to fight their illnesses like Logan did. We are grateful for the 52 days we got to spend with our courageous son.
